KATHARINE MORLING_ CERAMIC DRAWINGS

Katharine Morling is a young artist who can transform her sketches into wonderful pieces of ceramics. Graduated in 2009 at the Royal College of Art, Katharine developed an impressive talent in shaping porcelain to create her personal world. All her sculptures have a monochromatic aesthetic, that becomes Katharine’s artistic signature, and the work is made fired without glaze, in order to accentuate the drawn quality of the pieces. As the artist said, her works are a kind of 3 dimensional drawings, and “each piece, on the surface, an inanimate object, has been given layers of emotion and embedded with stories, which are open for interpretation in the viewer’s mind”. An impressive work, with a special attention to detail but also to the spontaneity of the artistic process.
