MODERN MAGRITTE
We already spoke about Sammy Slabbinck and his combination between past images with contemporary compositional styles. Dubbed “the modern Magritte” he said about his works: “I play with reality. I deform and transform images into new compositions, often integrating a surrealist touch. Sometimes there’s a message behind my work, social criticism maybe, but it depends on the viewer’s interpretation. Otherwise, I just want to create something a bit wacky. I think that making people laugh is also a way of making art”.
