Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados, a Brazilian architecture practice, was tasked with installing a swimming pool for Panorama, a 600 sq.m. house situated in the capital city of Brazil. Using extremely thick imported glass and a specialist team, the architects were able to put the pool next to the ground floor living room, becoming one of the walls. Thanks to the double height interior, the pool can be accessed from the ground floor as well as from the first floor, making it the centerpiece of the house. Commenting on the role of the swimming pool, Marques said “to a certain extent, I think I ended up providing the home with another work of art.”
As commissioned by the client, a couple with no children, an extensive art collection is displayed throughout the house. In addition to the spectacular pool, Marques carefully placed lighting around the artworks to enhance the art pieces.
