ROCKS AND LIGHT

Anders Brasch-Willumsen is an Art Director and Image-maker based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Rocks and Light is a project inspired by the 20th century Japanese art movement Mono-ha. Translated as “School of things”, the Mono-ha artists explored the encounter between natural and industrial materials (stone, steel plates, glass, light bulbs, cotton, sponge, paper, wood, wire, rope, leather, oil, and water) arranging them in mostly unaltered, ephemeral states. The works focus as much on the interdependency of these various elements and the surrounding space as on the materials themselves. Anders was able to capture his own compositions through the help of 3D rendered artworks. The artist’s decision to infuse natural and manufactured materials in a digitally rendered space enables him to establish a “grey zone, somewhere between the prehistoric and the futuristic — between the real and the virtual.”
