TARA DONOVAN

Tara Donovan (b. 1969, New York) is a well-known artist, she is appreciated for her large-scale and site-specific installations and sculptures made from everyday objects; through her working process she brings new life to ordinary items.

One of her latest project is “Untitled (Plastic Cups)”, at Jupiter Artland, art gallery close to Edinburgh. The installation is made with over 500,000 drinking cups, stacked in different heights to create a plastic landscape. Known for her commitment to process, she has earned acclaim for her ability to discover “the inherent physical characteristics of an object and transform it into art.” Donovan’s many distinctions include the MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Award (2008); and first annual Calder Prize (2005), among others.
