18 SCREENS

18 screens is one of the latest project by Sanjay Puri Architects, internationally awarded architecture studio.

Located in Lucknow, India, “18 screens” is planned alluding to the traditional Indian courtyard house in response to the climate of the location. As a matter of fact, the summer temperature can reach up to 35 degrees. Patterned screens and “chikan” embroidery are also inspired by Indian architecture. These screens bring personality to the home, but are especially useful for sheltering the interior from the sun, creating various projections of lights throughout the day, as well as to reduce the noise from traffic.

“Constructed almost entirely of raw concrete, a natural palette of sandstone and soft wood, bright Indian art and landscape are brought together in different compositions in each room” a press release said.
