ANNA CAREY
Anna Carey is an Australian artist, she completed a Bachelor of Visual Media with Honours at Queensland College of Art and is currently undertaking postgraduate studies with QCA. Her work overlaps photography, model-making, film and drawing in an interesting way: she creates fictive architectural spaces based on familiar iconic architecture which she later photographs; the camera lens magnifies the model with all its imperfections and reminds the viewer that the photograph has been constructed with a miniature materialized object.
“In Search of Rainbows” is a photographic collection of interiors, each one based on one of the rainbow colors: inspired by memories of real Australian houses and imagination, Anna built the models to photograph them; at a first glance we can see that there is something bizarre in the images, but only after a more accurate look we can see what they are really representing. In the gallery you will find also photos from another project, “Stardust”.
