BURNING METAL PROJECT

Hamanishi DESIGN is a Japanese multidisciplinary design studio. They explore the potential of things with an experimental approach from product to interior. Their latest work is Burning Metal, an experimental project which applies the color change reaction with burning metal to a product.

The studio mainly used the titanium alloy to create products with a beautiful iridescent color by manipulating the level of the natural titanium oxides on the surface. Thanks to this process, not an addiction of colors but rather the use of natural titanium oxides, the bright, vibrant hues from the titanium anodizing treatment will last indefinitely, resisting discoloration and fading over time.
