I/O – HIDE NO MORE

Dustin Lee is a young Canadian Industrial designer. He wants to design objects for us, for our direct needs and especially, for what we will need in the future.

For the next few years he imagined and designed everyday objects where digital and physical components can coexist in harmony. I/O is a TV set-top box prototype that undress the technological part in a minimalistic and elegant way. Hiding electronic components represents the norm within the industry. This design project explores the notion of exposing the technology to the user. Circuit boards are traditionally hidden from the user creating a disconnection with the operation of the product and the technical mechanics.

Dustin wants to analyze the question from another perspective showing us in deep what an electronic device is. No more gift boxes. No more dark covers. Just the essence. I/O
