Isola Design District is another new location of Fuorisalone 2017 – together with Ventura Centrale (more about it here). The concept for this district was based on the 2016 experience of Milan Design Market at Porta Romana.

The new department hosted also the exhibition “HARVEST” by the collective Dutch Invertuals at Spazio O, the exhibition Obstacles and Solutions curated by Source at Frida, and Haigo at Galleria Ostrakon. Despite the Design Market is a format that doesn’t help the showcase of the products and the visibility of the designers – in our opinion it’s more a commercial solution – there were really interesting projects: our friends Caracol Design Studio presented their products in clay – 3d printed with the help of a 6-axes robotic arm; Algranti Lab with Leti Paternieri experimented with materiality and analogic electronics to create a series of surfaces that produce sounds; another interesting product was a prototype named “Ozio” by two young product designers from Politecnico di Milano, Camilla Bernardo and Stefano Maddalon. In the next days we will talk more in detail about these three projects, stay tuned!
