Born in 1972 in Australia, Jonny Niesche is a Sidney-based artist; he had one of the most transformative moments of his career while studying abroad at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

His works are mainly characterized by shiny planes and reflective surfaces making Niesche’s current aesthetic quite distinctive. What seems to interest Jonny most is the conversation between painting and viewer: this conversation is pushed with materials such as screens, reflections, and fabrics, exploring whether we look at works solely as “images to be shown as images” or as “images to be shown as experiences.”
