KATERINA

KATERINA is the name of a vanity set inspired by Russian folk art and created by the San Petersburg-based designer Yaroslav Misonzhnikov.

The set is composed by a mirror, a comb and the folding lace fan inspired by the fan gifted to Russian Empress Mariya Fedorovna in 1883. The intricate, geometric lace pattern contrasts sharply with the smooth, minimal form of the fan. Speaking about his work, Misonzhnikov says: “My collection is dedicated to my granny, who lived in Vologda. When I was a little boy she used to tell me stories about her home there, a big Russian ‘izba’, and about her mum, who was always making ‘a lace’.”
