LA DI DA DI – THE SOUND OF EXPERIMENTATION BY THE BATTLES

For those whom may not know, The Battles are a pure experimental rock band, based in NY. Founded in 2002 by the guitarist Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero and Storm&Stress).

Their third studio album “La Di Da Di” (produced by Warp Records) is plenty of inspirations and brand new concept of sound. Each song is timeless, due to new harmonic explorations and unexpected backbeats, probably eased by the lack of the voice.

The banana and watermelon surrounded by a typical US breakfast show probably the best way to deeply understand the pleasure of this album: we suggest the prog vibrations of The Yabba and Summer Simmer, Non-Violence and FF Bada with their sound directly from early 70ies police tv-show.
