OPEN CALL 3rd EARTH ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION

Nka Foundation propone un contest per neolaureati e studenti di architettura, design ed ingegneria provenienti da tutto il mondo: dovranno usare la loro creatività per trovare soluzioni progettuali innovative per i modesti ed econimici alloggi per artisti dell’Abetenim Arts Village, vicino Kumasi nella regione di Ashanti, in Ghana, dove si troverà il cantiere. I materiali per gli alloggi possono essere la terra e altre risorse locali. La sfida è quella di progettare una casa tipo di circa 220 metri quadrati che dovrà trovarsi su un terreno di dimensioni 24×30 metri. I costi totali di costruzione da non superare nella progettazione sono di 7.000 dollari (USD) per i materiali e la manodopera, il valore del terreno è escluso da questo prezzo. L’edificio può essere progettato per musicisti, artisti di teatro, ceramisti, scultori, pittori, artisti tessili, designer, scrittori, o studenti di media arts. La registrazione e presentazione delle candidature va dal 1 agosto al 30 ottobre 2015. La quota di iscrizione è di $ 60 per una persona e $ 80 per una squadra. ENGLISH: Nka Foundation is issuing a challenge to recent graduates and students of architecture, design, engineering and others from around the world to use their creativity to come up with innovative designs for modest, affordable housing for the arts that can be built with earth and other local materials in Ghana. The challenge is to design a house type of about 2400 sq feet to be built on a plot size of 80 x 100 feet. Total costs of constructing the design entry must not exceed $7,000 (USD) for materials and labor; land value is excluded from this price point. The building should be designed for either musicians, theatre artists, potters, sculptors, painters, textile artists, designers, writers, or media arts practitioners. The construction site will be Abetenim Arts Village, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Registration and submission of entries runs from August 1 to October 30, 2015. The registration fee per entry is $60 for individual and $80 for a team.
