Paul Kaptein is an australian sculptor. He works with blocks of raw laminated wood that reveals distorted human figures.
He usually starts with some photographs as reference and plays around in Photoshop to get the frontal distortions, but thats it. The remaining part is completely handmade.
The effect of the typical distorted vision in low reception screen becomes fixed and stable in his sculptures. Paul with his works is able to create a balance between what you typically see through a screen and the stability of a real, tangible object.
The final result gives to the observer the impression of a sculputre made of three dimensional waves that seem to challenge the law of physics. Simply amazing.
