fala atelier is a naïve architecture practice based in porto, led by filipe magalhães, ana luisa soares and ahmed belkhodja. Established in 2013, the atelier works with methodic optimism on a wide range of projects, from territories to birdhouses.”

In November 2015 they were asked to transform an old clothing store in the suburbs of Oporto into a new agency for the client real estate company. The intervention had to be designed and implemented in less than 4 weeks and the new design should define the conceptual basis for all their future stores.  The space was quite long with little natural light and the total budget for the renovation was less than 10.000€ including furniture. The project proposed to reduce the space to simple composition of rooms: using only white planes, the old identity of the store was erased. The counter, tables and vertical screens were made out of metal structures cladded in different kinds of marble that became the spatial actors with its glossy and reflective attitude. For the lighting solutions were used LED linear lights and at the end of the store there’s the meeting room with a circular window that connects the two areas.
