STACKING GREEN

Founded in 2006, Vo Trong Nghia Architects is a leading architectural practice in Vietnam with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. More than 60 international architects, engineers and staff work closely on cultural, residential and commercial projects worldwide.

In 2011 they designed a unique sustainable house with a vertical garden as facade in Ho Chi Minh City. The house, designed for a couple in their thirties and their mother, is a typical tube house constructed on the plot 4m wide and 20m deep. The total gross floor area is about 215sq m, the front and the back of the building consist of concrete planters that can be watered through an automatic system, which collects rainwater. Additionally, the facade helps to regulate sunlight, noise and pollution in the city’s tropical climate.
