Born in 1979 in São Paulo, Brazil, Tatiana Blass is an artist working with painting, sculpture, video and installation. As from 1998, the year she began to forge her artistic career, Blass has been showing regularly in art salons, studio shows, and group and solo exhibitions in Brazil and abroad.
Her practice is focused on the exploration of the distortion of everyday objects and occurrences. In these selected works, Blass manipulates items with optical illusion, obscured perspective and missing parts, almost elevating them through surreality. The artist reduces the body of a marble horse to its hooves, a car becomes immersed in a driveway and a figure of wax is melted to reveal a bronze spine within. Brass explores the themes of permanence, duration and truth.
