THE PINK ZEBRA HOTEL

Renesa Architecture Studio is a New Delhi-based architecture studio (previously on WeVux) that recently designed The Pink Zebra hotel, a surreal renovation of one of the oldest buildings of Kanpur, India.

What if we dip a zebra in a bucket full of pink paint? This is an ironic question but it’s also the simplest metaphor to explain the interiors quality of the renovated building, which walls are dominated by a bold palette in pink, black and white. The architects were influenced by Wes Anderson’s scenographic taste; the structure is characterized by the attention to the detail and the colours, mostly arranged in asymmetrical stripes. The site and its bold appearance symbolize the renaissance of old structures in the British Raj Era.
